Lining up on a startline alongside other competitors and being ready for the gun to be fired gives you a buzz. With Racing catering for every sailor from those on 3.5 sails right up to the Olympic Class on 8.5 sails there is a class out there that will suit you.

If you want to compete locally with your friends you have the fantastic set up of Team15 to make it happen. If you feel you’ve got the talent, drive and commitment to go all the way to the top then the world’s best sail racing programmes are ready to support you.

The RYA run training squads at different levels where you train and compete against sailors of the same ability and on the same equipment. You’re coached by top coaches who know just how to get you fast and up to speed on your kit. They’ll also teach you a thing or two about getting around the course as quickly as possible.

The different levels of training are designed to give you the best possible support as you sail better and want to do more. The whole scheme (which starts with Team15 and goes on beyond national level) is called the RYA Pathway - it’s summarised quite neatly in this downloadable PDF document.

Whichever route you choose, the feeling you get when you line up at the start and get ready for the gun remains the same, whether at the Olympic Games, The National Championship or your local lake’s Friday night racing.

Get on it, Get Faster, Get Racing …
